Chris, you are right I was a bit lax in my terminology. I meant
'traverse' rather than route in the layer 3 sense. But then again I
understand under DOCSIS a CMTS can be implemented as a Layer 3 Router, a
Layer 2 switch or a hybrid. In either case (correct me if I'm wrong) for
CMs connected to a common CMTS, CM to CM packets do traverse and are
forwared to their destination via the CMTS.
