Good morning,

This is driving me bazonkers!!

My client has an xtra adsl account with a fixed ip address accessed via
a Speed Touch Pro.

As I understand it, the xtra network has to be accessed using PPPoA and
this has been configured on the modem successfully.

BUT I want to use a linux firewall which will have ipsec tunnels. The
Alcatel help-desk told me to use the CLI to configure the STPro with a
default NAT server which I did without really understanding what I was
doing. As one would expect, it doesn't work! Whilst the two ends of the
ipsec tunnel appear to find each other to negotiate a connection, they
are confused as to their respective identities and the tunnel is not
established.

Can someone please provide me with clear instructions on how to connect
with the required PPPoA whilst still retaining the ability to run ipsec
tunnels through the connection?

Many thanks,

Nigel Ball
