Nah, number of ports = 65535/6 is the old instructions. But setting
number of ports to one did work (thanks to the off-list person who gave
me the tip - honest I thought I had tried that!

For reference the correct settings were:

entryname pptp-gre
 internal address 192.168.1.20
 start port int 0
 start port ext 0
 number of ports 1
 protocol pptp-gre

Version info:

SW boot version: Bxxxx110.R01
SW appl. version: Gx1x2230.R04
HW version: T66280.01 C
Serial number: 61004622132
