A different problem to me by the sounds of it then.

It could be a router issue. Can you replace the unit, or upgrade the
firmware
(http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/drivers/files/routers/dsl500.htm). Is the
customer using Telecom installed filters at the main jackpoint or
in-line filters? Is there a power cable or speaker wires running
alongside the phone lines causing some interference? I used to get
problems like this in our office building, with a Nokia M11 router.
After moving to another floor with a brand new 25 pair copper wire from
the new floor to the building cabinet the problem disappeared. I don't
know what the problem was in the end, it may have been interference or
crappy building wiring. The Telecom guys had been out and tested from
the exchange, cabinet on street, cabinet in the building and in our
office and the only place we had problems was in the office suggesting
the last run of cable was at fault.

Usually immediately

Yes. Mostly it just re auths itself after training,,,, but sometimes
not.

Everyday, our logs show him online for 600 minutes or so, then 50-60 x
1-5 minutes periods he is auth'd for.
