I've read the FAQs saying that the external ADSL router in the title of
this email DOESN'T do PPTP (i.e. can't connect to a remote PPTP server)
but there are websites which say it does work.

I have just swapped out an M1122 and tried my link to my work PPTP
server and it fails to authenticate through the Asus...

Is this a config issue I can work through, or am I thoroughly shagged?

Yes I RTFM and STFW and I got confusing results.
