Power Supplies & Internal DSL Modems (Was: dsl service in Manurew a)

I think that if you were in the situation were not enough power was being
supplied by the PSU or the Mainboard, that you would know about it pretty
fast... like someone mentioned about the users with machines which were
resetting etc being fixed by having a new / higher rated PSU installed. I
don't know if a DSL card would have the necessary 'smarts' to tone down the
power usage should the system get overloaded.

However, in saying this, it is obvious that for whatever reason(s) external
DSL modems/routers give better performance/distance than internal ones.

I think the issue is the amount of power that can be supplied on the
PCI
bus, rather than what the PSU can directly supply. Some PCI and AGP

cards have a power connector on them for a direct connection to the
power supply to get the juice they need.
