Umm.. there are quite a few facters which can cause problems.

1) What kind of DSL Modem/Router do you have?
2) Where are you doing the pinging from (are there any network errors
between Router/Computer)
3) Is there any traffic on the DSL Line at the time when measurng?

The RAN willl actually be in wellington Not in Dunedin..

Looking at your stats. I guess as you are a further distance from the RAN
and DSLAM the ping times are alot higher (but still shouldn't have packet
loss). All places I've been in have had about a 43ms ping time to the RAN
(But I've been in AK)

Pinging 192.168.253.225 with 32 bytes of data:
