I'm getting wierd packet loss lately too. It's been on and off for the past
couple of weeks. Here's some examples -

  1 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms ROUTER [192.168.1.254]
  2 40 ms 40 ms 40 ms 210-54-31-255.global-gateway.net.nz
[210.54.31.254]
  3 40 ms 40 ms 41 ms Telecom [192.168.253.1]
  4 * * * Request timed out.
  5 * * * Request timed out
......

[210.54.31.254]

.....

  2 40 ms 40 ms 40 ms 210.54.31.254
  3 40 ms 40 ms 50 ms 192.168.253.1
  4 * * * Request timed out.
  5 90 ms 90 ms 90 ms 210.54.31.125

The common theme here is that everything that dies seems to do it on these
hops - 192.168.253.1 and 202.50.119.153. (or sometimes the hop right after
drops packets).
Never had any problems until a few weeks ago when i started sporadically
noticing this.
