There are two hardware versions of the Alcatel Pro.
One hardware version requires Gv8* versions of firmware, and the other
requires Khd* versions.

If you are lucky enough to have the Gv8 hardware (I'm not, sob!) you can
upgrade your Pro all the way up to a SpeedTouch 510!
(Craig Whitmore is the man to talk with about this...)

The firmware images at www.nzdsl.co.nz don't include the latest KhD*
firmware (could www.nzdsl.co.nz please be updated with the latest?). I'll
email the version I have separately.

The LINKS on www.nzdsl.co.nz are missing a "3" character jsut before the
period "."
The actual version number is 3.281

The number in brackets after the name is the File Size. When I got my Pro I
checked the versions it had loaded, and the active version was:
KhdPnz3.281 (1009018 bytes)
The passive version was:
KhdPnz3.281 (1008906 bytes) (112 bytes shorter)

The difference is that my "active" version contained some extra strings on
the end that look like MIME (email) strings (?)

My "active" version ended like so (everything between but NOT including the
<quote> tag)
<quote>
-----------------------------7d21a428d4----------------7d21a428d4
Content-Disposition: form-data; name="upload.y"

10
-----------------------------7d21a428d4--</quote>

My "passive" version ends like so:
<quote>
-----------------------------7d21ea188d4ad.x"

49</quote>

(Very strange...)

Mark

Subject: Speedtouch Pro Firmware issues

available for retail sale in the whole damn country (I should know, it took
me long enough to find the thing!) Anyway, all is fine and dandy (after I
converted it from a Home to a Pro again - what is WITH that???) except for a
(at least percieved) problem with updating the firmware.

tell from the firmware images on www.nzdsl.co.nz the latest Pro image is
281. What I don't know is what the characters before the .281 etc mean and
why you seem to be able to have 2 identical image versions but when you
upload them to the Alcatel they have different numbers in brackets after
them (build numbers?). Maybe this is my problem.
