To be useful IMHO, the router has to support UPnP. I need to be able to
use Windows Messenger Voice, Video, Application Sharing and Remote
Assistance from behind it.

Anybody else out there using UPnP successfully at all on any models of
ADSL routers at all, ever? Curious to hear war stories from the field.

In the day or so I've been using those services through a UPnP gateway
at home it seems to be perform pretty well opening and closing ports
through the UPnP IGD.

Cheers

Hi Nation.

XH1150 is currently in Telepermit process. Not sure of your time
requirements it should hit market in about 8 weeks (and yes, I'm
updating
the DSE website ETA now). Points to note about this product:
- firmware upgradeable - WLAN through on-board PCMCIA slot - ships with
Prism 802.11b card.
- current firmware supports Intersil Prism 802.11b based cards - future
firmware to support Atemel cards as well - Conexant also advises there
are
plans for 802.11g support - probably around end of year.
- ships with 802.11b card
- preconfigured for NZ
- you can use wireless, USB and all 4 10/100Mbps ports at the same time
-
max of 250 odd users
See http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/en/product/XH1150
- looks like we are on target for NZ$390 odd retail inc GST.
- for the Linux guru's, it also support s1/2 bridge mode like XH1149 -
WAN
IP ends up on LAN - as well as DMZ and much, much more.
- part of the delay is we insisted on being able to add a port range as
opposed to individual ports to firmware - expect to receive this on
Monday.

Sorry if this sound like a bit of advertising blurb - it's just that
your
email came in as I'm finalizing DSE NZ firmware customization for the
product - uncanny...

Regards, Chris...

Curious to hear opinions on others experiences with some of the new
external modems that are out there.

I'm looking for an all-in-one unit that features an adsl modem, built in
11b wireless, preferably a couple of switch/hub ports and must have UPnP
NAT traversal (that works!)

I've seen http://www.dynalink.co.nz/products/rta300w.htm , wondering
what other options there are

Thanks
Nathan
