ADSL under OpenBSD .. works

I just thought I'd tell yah all that I got ADSL going okay in the end. It
is not hardcoded yet, but there's the proof of concept.

I'm using PPP half bridge mode on a DSE XH1149 router, plugging it into a
spare ethernet card in an OpenBSD box, which then using dhclient and NAT's
to it's external IP address by using a line in pf.conf like:
nat on nge0 inet from ! (nge0) to any -> (nge0)

I tested running a gif tunnel to another box, and it worked fine. So it's
passing everything along nicely.

Now I just need to stop running dhclient in debug mode, with lease renewall
times set to 15 seconds. And then I have to dedicate a box, so that I can
do traffic shaping on both external interfaces. I'm shaping outgoing at
the moment, which seems to slightly help.

I tried using the DMZ mode initially with no luck. Actually, I couldn't
even get a pinhole to work for some reason. It's also rather annoying in
that you have to reboot for every change, and use a web interface so you
can't easily cut and paste when trying different things.

I probably should do something about not being able to access the web
interface whilst it's connected too.

If I had a static IP, it'd simplify things quite a lot.

Even if the DSE router sucks, it was only $246 and includes a 4 port switch
and USB. I'm not sure if I can actually use those whilst doing bridging or
not - I haven't tried.

It also seems faster for sshing to use my email than when I was using a
Windows gateway. Which is always nice.

Thanks for your help,
Ben.
