Should add to this that the maximum RAL should not exceed 5 according to Telecom. Most phones I've seen are 1.0 although if I recall I've seen a 0.8 before.

Having said that, my understanding is that this is mainly related to ringing. If youe exceed the RAL/REL, your phones may not ring. Whether you do or you don't I don't think it should affect your phone once you have picked it up (unless you're using multiple phones at once of course but that will be dependent of the number of phones in use not the number of phones you have).

However, I do agree that it is probably better (for perforamce, price and versatility reasons) to use a central splitter rather then 5 microfilters. Given the price I have seen filters here, it'll probably be a lot cheaper, assuming you can find a proper central splitter (which based on feedback in this group, isn't easy). If you can't that's a bit annoying but depending on where you're buying your filters from, it might be cheaper to get Telecom or someone to install a central splitter for you anyway.
