Hi all.
I am with Paradise and have had very little problems with them. They
were WAY better than Xtra for overall product and support.
Anyway, 8 or maybe 9 weeks ago, I shifted house.
Since then I have had quite a few "issues".
They have been mostly relating to them, and thats acceptable, its not
OK, just aceptable, but over teh last week or more, I am noticing that
my PPP connection is being dropped.
My first indication is MSN messenger goes off line, then not long after
than, a little app. I wrote to tell me the IP address of my connection
turns up in my Hotmail account where I have it sent to.
I then got to the status page of my router, and sure enough, its only
been connected for 40-50 seonds or more depending on how long I take to
get to the page or notice it etc.
I have rung paradise and they say try disconnecting my Telephones from
the sockets, and trying another router which I can do. The Filter was
installed by a telecom techincian, well one of their sub contractors, so
I am not sure its the filter, but I guess it could be.
The problem is, that the time between the PPP dropping is never
consistant.
I DO know that lastnight my IP changed 17 times !!
No one is using the phones in the middle of the night, that I know, so I
am not convinced of this argument.
My ADSL modem is an ASUS AAM6000EV external router with the latest
firmware installed.

Like I say, this has been happening over the last week or more, and the
more I think of it, its been doing "Funny" things ever since I have been
in this new place.

I am not sure what to do next. If its PPP then this has to be Paradise
right? it does not "Seem" to be loosing the ADSL connection so Telecom
faults will just say "No, can t see any disconnections" and I am not
totally convinced someone on a Helpdesk is actually techincally
qualified to find or help with the problem.

Can anyone suggest anything I can try?
Unfortunitly the modem has no log file which is not helpful

All thoughts appreciated.

Cheers,

Jeremy Coulter
