Hello John,
thank for your wonderful telephone support.
I did all the things you suggested, swapped the filters, disconnected the
(old style)phone and the cordless in the lounge. Nothing made any change to
the condition on the line. In fact, when I disconnected the (old style)
phone, the line attenuation went up to 52dB?!?
BUT I had forgotten ONE very important connection. THE OLD INTERNAL MODEM
that was still connected to the same line as my (old style) office phone.

                                 * * * * I eat humble pie. * * * *

Since I pulled the plug on the old modem, my line attenuation came down to
28dB and I've only lost ADSL connection once in 1 day, 2 hours and 20
minutes. (My DSE router is very informative :-))

I suspect that the old internal modem transferred some significant amount of
RF computer noise up the line and therefor interfering with the ADSL
connection.

Anyway, I'm a happy camper right now.

Many regards,

Frits Schouten.
