Australia typically uses PPPoE whereas NZ uses PPPoA. There is also
some difference between ANSI and DMT in the protocols. If you purchase
a DSL Router in Australia you need to make sure that it has PPPoA
support. A lot of routers are sold in both the AU and NZ markets anyway
- the Dynalink and D-Link ones for example.

Hi all
Another newbie question:
Does anyone know if an ADSL modem bought in Oz (I'm in Oz every week)
will work in NZ? I know that there have been problems with modems
supplied for European networks on both Oz and NZ networks. If there are
any problems, can they be solved by something simple like a firmware
upgrade?
regards
Frank
