This has always been the case for me here in Auckland, so I guess it
must just be Palmy catching up. I had heard from a friend in Hamilton
(and even a couple of others in different parts of Akl) that they did
not have the same problem there - I put it down to differences in DSL
modems and ISPs. Interesting to know it's actually a Telecom,
exchange-specific issue.

Sounds like the new equipment prioritises TCP above UDP. I wouldn't bet
on it ever being changed/fixed. :(
