Are you using ftp to move them back from a *nix system to a windows
system? If so, make sure you set the transfer mode to binary before you
transfer the file. We had the same problem here at work, where a file
was being rejected as the end of line char was changing from LFs to
CR/LFs due to the windows ftp prog transferring the text file in ASCII
mode and munging the EOL's...

Or, use an editor other than notepad (like ultraedit) which allows you
to specify the file format (Unix, Dos, Mac etc) and the EOL character
that should be used.
