You don't read the archives much or have a very good memory do you ?

Its quite simple really.

(for these purposes, JetStart = standard 128k service, all else = Telecom
charged /meg service)

Jetstart login on a JetStream Line = Full rate, JetStream billing done by
Telecom, in addition to any billing imposed by the ISP.
JetStream login on a JetStart Line = Capped rate, only additional billing
done by ISP which depends on the account type you have with the _ISP_

JetStart login on a JetStart line = Normal billing (Telecom) and normal
billing (ISP)
JetStream login on a JetStream line = Normal billing (Telecom) and normal
billing (ISP)

If you read the archives this subject was covered many many many times. (in
topics that you actively participated in no less)

Funny that.

You get charged the normal Telecom fees, they get charged their normal ISP
fees.

Yes this is a loophole, good on you for pointing it out - however, a wee
while ago Telecom introduced two new things.

a) FastIP Direct
b) All JetStart traffic must be trunked over the ISP's links.

So in reality, what _should_ happen is

* Login works ok
* You get allocated a FastIP Direct IP
* This is blocked by telecom and you go nowhere
OR
* This is not blocked by telecom, you get away with it once or twice,
someone notices and the ISP locks you down or the Telco locks the ISP down
and people get a little angry with you.

If you had bothered to read the archives then you would know that Wayne at
one point said that this was acceptable, but don't expect the results (in
todays market) to be 100% reliable.

The billing system is not that hard to understand, it is just different
from the standard "I get charged based on my login name" that people
expected from dialup - yes, there are loops, but you are expected to keep
within the spirit of the agreement by which you signed up. If you don't
keep within these constraints then you can expect these little ways round
things to vanish quite quickly as it suddenly becomes economical to fix them.

The trick is to use them sparingly and it wont be worth an ISP/Telecom's
time to fix it and you'll have gotten a little "extra" that you can use
when required.

Tho, after seeing how the list reacts to things outside the square over the
past few years I really don't see people actually taking that advice.
