Are you kidding? The price they charge for ports on their cable network how
can that not be good value for them if all I used it for is a bit of national
traffic? Let's remember that cable is a shared resource and as it's running
10 meters from my front door I can't see what the issue is...

As for ADSL... ports now cost $65USD each in low volume (ie 24 ports). Sure
you still have to put an IP or ATM feed into that but with the 1/300 user
ratio that Telstra run I can't see that costing to much.

As for 'just taking up another port'... I would have thought they'd be
pleased as... stops me from taking up another Telecom New Zealand port and
give them a chance to up sell me to other services later. Right now I'm
guessing that I'm going to be ordering a second ADSL service from Telecom
next week.
