Apart from all the good (and obvious) reasons you give, I would have thought
that getting you away from Telecom and to them as a customer was important
and worth not making much money from you.
When I phoned Telecom recently and the 123 operator noticed that I had switched
to a tolls provider she offered me VERY cheap tolls for six months if I switched
back. I forget the details of the deal but it was a hell of a lot lower than any of
their deals they offer to their "loyal" customers.
