No, he rang telstra asking for a 'domestic only' service - delivered over
dsl.. In other words, he wanted national only data, no international.

I too would have declined him of this service.. No point in providing ~8Mbit
of national data (which would unnessacarily hammer the delivery method) when
you can provide to 20-30 256k users - who purchase a retail product!

Telecom bending over backwards for home customers? Really?

I really don't understand your issue with Telstra. You rang them up saying
you wanted a telephone and broadband? Are you a business? Do they know that?
There's one bit of info you haven't given us yet.
