Hey like it or not I have to confess that the service I've had from them in
the last 3 months has been second to none.

I've connected a telephone line and jetstream... sure not a million dollar
contract but they make is simple enough for me... it got done promptly and
when they said they would. That's all I ask.

I need a second data service to do some testing of a project I'm working on
for my family.

My issue is that they can't/won't supply me with a service dispite the fact I
have a green box 10 meters from my back door.

Sure if they don't have cable in that box then I can understand them not
running a cable in for me especailly unless they can get enough demand for
other neighbours.

However as they do have UTP running thru that green box I would have thought
that getting me on an ADSL service would be a great plan! - that's my issue!

If you've put $100 million in to plant around the domestic parts of a city
then you should be bending over backwards to get customers on to it even if
those customers don't quite fit your mould - that's my issue!

However I do understand what's going on in some respect - 3 years following
the scene in Australia and seeing how Telstra operate there.... not so
different :)

> Are you a business?

I'm working on a project that will have comerical potential when I get it
going but at present I'm not operating as a business... as I said... I just
wanted a second bb connection at home for testing.

> Do they know that?

Yes. I explained in detail what I was looking for... I talked to a tech for
half an hour to identifiy if their product was even going to do what I wanted
(ie - I'd prefer a connection that's not running pppoa that does have a
static IP.)

> There's one bit of info you haven't given us yet.

Business or domestic, end of the day I'm offering to be a paying customer.
Frankly given that I already have jetstream from Telecom I would have thought
that Telstra would be falling over them selves to get me onto their
product... once I have this project completed I probably won't require 2
data services anymore... I'll keep the best one.

For the duration of the product I'm going to be on public forums making
comments about what I'm doing and what I'm using.... I know I always value
the views of someone who's got more than one service and can be objective
about the benefits of each.

These are just abstract thoughts on a Saturday night when I should be in the
garden helping my wife :)
