I remember why I like forum boards now... you can add an edit without

A couple of amusing side issues...

1... the bit of the project I'm working on at present involve getting a
linux box set up with VPN tunnels that will have traffic control on them so
that each tunnel will only carry between 128k and 256k (which is about what I
think is going to be required for each external client...).

One of my concerns with what I'm working on is that given more bandwidth the
application layer of my system will just soak it up. That could result in a
very large data bill when we get to the next stage.

As I expect most of the 'clients' would be connecting using a 128K Jetstream
connection with the project kicks off I don't expect that would be a
problem...

However as the bb market becomes more competitive in NZ I fully expect
Telecom to start releasing more reasonable (read faster) connections in to
the domestic market (being that most of our clients will use our service from
home). I don't expect that they will reduce the cost of international data
as much as I expect they will increase the avalible speed with higher data
caps (a trend we're already seeing in markets like Australia).

2... the next bit of the project does require international data (and if all
goes to plan, in very large globs each day) which I had expected we would be
paying for.

I'm only working on the first stage of the project at present (as I'm
strugling with Linux - thou with help I'm getting there :).

I asked for what I needed just to advance the current part of the project.
