Hello,

I have a 3Com HomeConnect running with Linux and rp-pppoe. I've been
using this combination for the last couple of years without too much
trouble.

I've recently moved premises and have noticed the ADSL connectivity
doesn't appear to be very stable. On a daily basis I stop and restart
the rp-pppoe software services and occasionally have to reboot the
modem.

I've included some info from the modem. Can someone confirm the below
info look like normal operating values for a modem the is a long way off
from the exchange? Is it considered normal to have the ADSL line drop
every few hours?

ADSL Transceiver Status Report:

    Operational Mode operational

    Attenuation Upstream 21.0 dB
    Attenuation Downstream 43.5 dB

    Noise Margin Upstream 12.0 dB
    Noise Margin Downstream 10.0 dB

    Transmit Power (ATUR) 12.0 dBm
    Transmit Power (ATUC) 18.5 dBm

Actual Negotiated Downstream Baud Rate: 2912000 bps
Actual Negotiated Upstream Baud Rate: 704000 bps
