Hi guys, were snowed under at present finalizing a 802.11g ADSL router - give us a day or so to round up some source so you can recompile for your specific uP, kernel etc. Have also received RPM's for Mandrake that need testing so plan to nail all this in one hit. sorry for delay. Will be in touch.

versions
Hi,
I forced the install to the smp kernel and it gave me this error
e2.o: kernel-module version mismatch
e2.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.20-8
while this kernel is version 2.4.20-28.9smp.
bash-2.05b# insmod -f e2.o
Warning: kernel-module version mismatch
e2.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.20-8
while this kernel is version 2.4.20-28.9smp
Warning: loading e2.o will taint the kernel: no license
See http://www.tux.org/lkml/#export-tainted for information about tainted
modules
Warning: loading e2.o will taint the kernel: forced load
Module e2 loaded, with warnings
It didn't work
I did the force with the non-smp version of the latest kernel, got the same
error, and it DID work
Someone else is sending me the source for the driver so I might try
compiling it
cheers

Can you force the module to load (insmod -f e2.so I think is the command)
with the new kernel? It will complain but usually works.

Subject: DSE XH1148 USB Modem under Red Hat 9 - questions re kernel versions
Hi Guys
I've just set up Red Hat 9 (kernel 2.4.20-8) and installed the driver from
the DSE site - it all works great. However I have a dual P3 500 system and
by default the machine would start up running kernel 2.4.20-8smp. The driver
wouldn't work under this, and upon investigating and doing things like
insmod e2.so I found out the Linux driver is only for kernel version
2.4.20-8
I got it to work by forcing my pc to boot in single processor mode Since
then there have been kernel updates for RH9, but I still have to boot using
the old kernel (I'll try the latest single-processor version of the kernel
today to see if the driver still works) My question is, are there newer
driver versions on the web somewhere (I think it's a conexant driver)? Is
there a way to force it to work in smp mode? I don't want to sacrifice the
power of dual processing just because of one driver...
Any help or links greatly appreciated!
