I agree that in NZ, where population density is low, having duplication of
DSLAM functionality seems stupid.

But that beats the hell out of Telecom having a monopoloy over what services
are available via the local loop and then wholesaling these at retail-minus
prices to other providers. Businesses have been paying 20c/meg for four
years now.

Try TelstraClear - they call it "High Speed Internet" now. If you don't get
anywhere I can email you contact details for a TelstraClear reseller.

They can and do, depends whether you have a DSL enabled Clear cabinet within
one kilometer.
