I had an 827 for a long time and it didn't fix the problem. I also tried the filter that comes with an 837 and it didn't fix it either. I have used an Alcatel Speedtouch for 12 months.

Hmmm, I wonder if it IS a modem problem. Considering the issue goes away when the modem is switched off or disconnected points to the modem and the fact that a premium quality modem (Cisco) doesn't seem to exhibit the same issues is raising flags for me...
I wonder if the Cisco is a bit better at managing line voltage or produces less noise or something??
