And another personal view - would Panasonic not be better pushing the problem back to Telecom re Telepermit as above - rather than inferring ADSL filters are cheap and a splitter may fix the problem.

Also, I'm not so naive to think Telecom and their standards should bear the brunt of all this. Telephone lines and the services they run on them these days are very complicated - much more than a pair of wires. But, when your talking about filtering a segment of the audio band for one purpose or another, a phone (cordless or not & irrespective of brand) should work with a filter or a splitter.

Put it another way - you can pay Telecom $100 to install a splitter which MAY fix the problem or go an buy a new phone which will most probably fix the problem.

>>My personal suggestion is that anyone experiencing problems with a Panasonic should take it up with their dealer, who should apparently have some official information from Panasonic regarding the issue.

..and I double checked - NO SUCH LETTER HAS BEEN RECEIVED BY THIS DEALER!

Regards, Chris...

Subject: From Panasonic...

I have heard back from Panasonic regarding their phones and ADSL Filters.

One of their Technical Reps has observed that the phones are not at fault,
but cheap DSL filters are. Apparently a bulletin has been sent out to
Panasonic phone dealers about this so they should know the story.
The general thought appears to be that a full-install should be used, as
opposed to filters which are likely to be less reliable.
Again, this is from Panasonic, not me. :)

My personal suggestion is that anyone experiencing problems with a
Panasonic should take it up with their dealer, who should apparently have
some official information from Panasonic regarding the issue.
Mark.
