Just thought Id add my 2c into this previous thread.

Until about 3 weeks ago we had been on a Jetstart connection which had
been rock solid for ... ohhh 2+years.

Since going to these new Jetstream Surf plans its been "OK", but Im
pretty sure we are also seeing what Paul referred to below.

Have contacted World-Net, but thought Id see if anyone has any ideas
here as well.

Here is a traceroute from when we are online and all running OK:

[craig@mail craig]$ /usr/sbin/traceroute 219.88.230.8 traceroute to
219.88.230.8 (219.88.230.8), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 m1122.infobahnz.local (10.0.0.1) 1.474 ms 1.395 ms 2.716 ms
 2 210-55-64-64.adsl.netgate.net.nz (210.55.64.64) 45.581 ms 46.547
ms 47.068ms
 3 192.168.253.1 (192.168.253.1) 57.037 ms 54.665 ms 68.489 ms
 4 202.50.119.153 (202.50.119.153) 58.462 ms 56.698 ms 56.313 ms
 5 worldnet-dom.akcr5.global-gateway.net.nz (202.37.245.50) 57.200 ms
56.179 ms 56.356 ms
 6 tauren.world-net.co.nz (203.96.119.41) 57.781 ms 60.173 ms 57.085
ms
 7 iiweb01 (219.88.230.8) 62.626 ms 63.170 ms 56.797 ms

Whe we go offline for "a few minutes", we don't lose our IP Address and
the M1122 says the PPP Connection is OK. But a traceroute shows:

[craig@mail craig]$ /usr/sbin/traceroute 219.88.230.8 traceroute to
219.88.230.8 (219.88.230.8), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 m1122.infobahnz.local (10.0.0.1) 1.530 ms 1.438 ms 2.363 ms
 2 210.55.64.64 (210.55.64.64) 29.603 ms 50.097 ms 46.882 ms
 3 * * *
 4 * * *

and during this time the Internet is just simply uncontactable.

Its not normally noticeable as with normal surfing and Email delivery it
may ojnly last for a few minutes and for us its never lasted as long as
Paul observes. If we have a TermServ or SSH connection open, then those
obviously drop out, and this afternoon its been particularly noticeable.

Our public IP Address is typically in the 210.55.219.0 range ... so not
affected by the 222.* problem. When online we can access anywhere OK.

Any ideas anyone?

What is the node 210.55.64.64, as it appears that that may be where our
problem is....
