If you forward the appropriate ports from your router to your PC overnet
will download rather nicely, when I was using it at home I could get a
solid 12-14kB, while uploading at somewhere between 6 and 12kB (always
at or near the limit, which I changed at whim)

Overnet works better if you turn on horde mode, and set your upload
limit higher. Using the horde feature on the connection at work got me
upto 110kB/s one day (~880kbit). Usually I would have the upload limited
to 50kB/s.

When using overnet I used the command line version most of the time, but
turned on the remote admin stuff so I could control the client running
at work using the ed2k gtk gui from home.

Also its worth noting that overnet is no edonkey clone, its by the same
people that created edonkey, they reccommend overnet over edonkey now
because it doesnt rely on a central server.

Ohh... and the edonkey/overnet website mentions a new gui for linux and
OS X coming soon.... could be interesting.
