You know we will get shot down by the list Nazi for talking Broadband Router on an ADSL list..
But, here are the facts:
- XH1151 that is sold through DSE stores uses Nucleus Real Time O/S which is closed source. The code that is posted is simply the GNU Boa Webserver - not the entire O/S, Etc. this is all the manufacturer has to release to comply with the GNU license.
- A uClinux ARM Development kit is available for the Winbond WN90N740 Arm processor XH1151 uses - check out XH6849 on the DSE website and be prepared to fall over when you see the price - I did and I'm the buyer!
- To load this on to XH1151, you need ether a eJTAG port or Console port - the board has provision for both - the manufacturer will not install the required components unless we order 10,000. This is about 2 years worth of stock - far too much for NZ and DSE AU is not into this sort of product range yet.
- I have ordered the uClinux kit and it is due in early June. After we get a working preload going to the point where we can load a kernel and it runs, we will release all details and source enabling customers to hack away.
- If your interested in helping, please visit www.dse.co.nz, search for XH1151, click on the support page and follow the instructions. I'd be keen to supply a few embedded Linux hackers with hardware and source to help get some sort of NZ based development going for this product. Any and all ideas welcome - the first thing we want to do is NAS via its USB port.
Kind regards, Chris - DSE(NZ)Ltd
