I have been using VOIP and SIP (port 5060) for over 2 years on full
jetstream, 128k and now 256k.

I don't believe Telecom are blocking any ports.

I have a SIP aware hardware firewall, SIP server and also use SIP
registries such as Freeworld Dialup,
SipCall and lately Gossiptel to talk to friends and relatives in the UK.
SIP VOIP is very popular in Europe and Japan but seems t be slow to get
off the ground here.

Cheers,

Bruce Barton

Without knowing what phone or PBX or protocol you are trying to use..

Generally (in the case of SIP at least) you have a singnalling protocol
and then once the call has been confirmed, an RTP stream that will carry

the actual audio data.

Usually the signalling is quite firewall friendly, however - the RTP
streams can be a completely different matter and will usually result
in the exact fault you are seeing.

The RTP stream will usually operate on a dynamic port and may or may
not be settable in the phone's software. Sometimes you can also get
round NAT issues by using an RTP proxy.

More information would be helpful but it is highly unlikely that Telecom

would be blocking the port in question.
