Sorry to make another post when i could have included it in my other one but
failing the possibility of being able to find or get the dse usb modem
working with mandrake 10 i was wondering if anybody could offer any
suggestions as to what usb modem would work with this version of mandrake. I
am going to within the next week upgrade my system , and i would like to be
able to get the new system as well as the old system sharing the same
internet connection , this is not that important but
would be nice , i gather i would have to use a router to achieve this , am i
wrong in thinking the dsl modem plugs into the router and then the two
systems plug into the router via ethernet , or does the the router also act
as the adsl modem , a little while back (only a couple of weeks) my internal
dse adsl packed up (3rd one of same model to do this) so i tried a usb dlink
modem that had a router connection in the back for one other system , i got
it home plugged it in and no power light , so i took it back and they tried
it but found it to be faulty , they replaced it straight away and i bought
the new one home to discover no matter how i tried i could not access the
config via the web interface so i took that back but they had no more left
in stock that is when they said try this usb dse one , it worked perfectly
for what i was using at the time and worked well with redhat 9.0 but alas it
will not work with mandrake 10 , Why do i want to use mandrake 10 , well it
offers me everything i need pretty much out of the box and i like the look
and feel of it over redhat. anyway i have gone way off topic here , What i
want is a usb modem that will work with mandrake 10 , but i do not want to
spend a fortune to get it. If anybody can recomend some models that they
know work with it or would allow me to share two systems on a router that
work with it or could offer a soulution i would be most gratefull.
Thanks in advance
Jason
