All I can say is you have been lucky.
We lost connection on Wed night and didn't get it back till near lunch time
Thursday. We had PPP and DSL and could connect to our Wellington office from
Auckland.
Our Wellington office had issues as well - had to pinpoint.

Having a look at the PPP Tracing, connection sent LCP ConfReqs then got

reply. Hung on Verifying username and password, redialled for about 30

half an hour then finally managed to get on.
Was taking 5-15 minutes to log on, same as you. First time i logged on I
could
ping the next hop but nothing beyond it, another 15 minute connection
attempt
later I was on and going. Found my connection down again this morning.
redialled and no issues. During this time my DSL Physical Connection was
100%
solid.
Thats Xtra ADSL. During that outage couldn't log on to JSG, Paradise or
Xtra.
