Actually, Paul mentioned this a few days ago. Based on
feedback about the way bitstream will work, it's not
surprising either in my opinion. Routing set up (supposedly
physical changes) will have to be carried out for each
customer's bitstream access and it is not a matter of just
changing login. Therefore it will not be possible for
Telecom to offer the realm to bitstream provider customers.
The current bitstream set up does not allow ISPs to offer
their own Gamers realm (at least not one that doesn't have
bandwidth limits). Therefore, it would be unfair for Telecom
to continue to offer the realm.

While there will be some people annoyed at the loss because
of what it will mean to their online games (both in terms of
data usage and bandwidth) I think the vast majority of
people who will be annoyed are those who use the realm to
download movie trailers, game updates, demos and trailers,
Linux distros and other stuff available on the JSG FTP
server.

As for testing, well I suppose that will be up to each
bitstream provider to provide their own test realm.
