Just sharing my 2Mbps experience...
My billing date is midnight on 4th, and my speed went up to 2Mbps during Friday 5th. However, my Jetstream was down from sometime during the day, until after midnight on Friday. I phoned Xtra Helpdesk Friday evening and after a 40 minute wait on hold, I was told that my outage was due to the speed upgrade, and would probably come right after midnight!
Needlesss to say I was not happy! I pointed out that a) I did not ask/agree to be upgraded from 256K Surf, and b) I had no notice that my upgrade would happen on Friday 5th, and c) I had no notice that it would involve a lengthy outage of my service.
As to performance, I notice very little real difference in browsing most web sites (latency? or simply typical busy web server response time limitations? - don't know yet). Only advantage so far is that downloading large files is really fast of course (a 25MB download took about 2 minutes at about 232KBps average).
