your adsl modem will not show 2mbit unless you actually have that bad
a connection with the exchange. what you see on the modem's
information page will always reflect what speed you are can achieve,
but your speed is throttled to 2mbit by telecom.

even in jetstream starter 128k days, my modem reported around 7600kb
connection. the fact that your upload speed is reduced merely
indicates that your upstream connection this time around is slightly
slower than it can be.

of course this is all IMHO =P
