Chuckle - I think that DSL504 question was one of mine :-) And I never did
solve it either.

Yeah, I think one of the major reasons is that this list was instituted back
when ADSL was a bit of black magic, there were maybe 2-3 ADSL Routers on the
market and no-one really knew much about it. Now we have retail packs that
basically anyone can bring home, plug in and go - by following just a few
simple instructions. Some suppliers even have NZ presets for their routers
so people don't even need to be aware of VPI/VCI etc.

This is all a good thing though.

We now have a situation though where the political, ISP operational and
marketing issues of ADSL in NZ are FAR more salient to most 'power users'
than any technical issues. People being people still feel the need to whine
about these from time to time (and I'm no exception) and this is a fairly
decent place in which to do so.

I think given the general lack of any real ADSL technical issues that the
use of the list for other discussions isn't the end of the world that some
people obviously think it is. Why can't they just be happy that there aren't
any technical issues to talk about anymore (Generalisation - but you get my
point)

on the net news!
