Yup fully agree.. a mellow perspective is always needed.

In regards to the multiple vpn tunnels - I had this problem and someone
on the list helped me - in fact pointed me to a technical person I could
call. (maybe a bit of sales orientated stuff there but all good!!)

I needed confirmation of the model I was to buy could handle it's
application in the environment it needed to work in - not many people
have a need to have multiple users connect to a single VPN server from
the same adsl device(unless your a cheapie) - the m1122 and older dsl
routers could surprisingly.. mass market thing I guess.

It had to do with functionality needed to be built in to allow the
handling of the GRE protocol correctly.. MOST dsl routers will say they
handle multiple connections - a bit of a misnomer because they refer to
different vpn servers - not multiple connects to a single server..

BTW the USR robotics 9105 handles this with the latest firmware update -
available from uk usr robotics site - also supports ADSL 2 if you're
really keen..

An interesting technical point - alot of home users have come to me with
a general query - I just got DSL installed and it works for a while then
stops..

Further investigation it appears that the Xtra DSL pack they bought had
a Dlink modem in it - with Ethernet and USB capabilities. Yet the tech
installed using USB! I have converted so many people to Ethernet when
they have been originally installed using USB - Generally USB is pretty
reliable - but how many times have you experienced USB issues in
comparison to Ethernet?

Using the Ethernet connection also future proofs these home users - esp.
if they want to reinstall their PC or shift to another without any
install needed - not to mentioning adding a switch and tellings them how
to do it..

Mind you - the funniest thing that happens with alot of people buying
the packs is that their PC goes really slow after install.. hmmm...
further investigation reveals Spy ware / Vii and other little critters
that just love the added speed boost..

Hmm maybe Spybot and Adaware should be included?

Cheers
Iain.
