I'm on bitstream and had the exact same issue (have a netgear router also
that gave the same errors), as did a friend of mine who is also on Orcon
bitstream.

I imagine it was something more major

Subject: ADSL Issues/Not Connecting

I lost my ADSL connection Friday night/Saturday morning. I'm a JetStream

Plus user through Orcon and after numerous calls, I have an engineer
booked for Tuesday.

Has anyone else been experiencing weird problems over the weekend? I've
been hearing rumours of major problems.

My Netgear ADSL Modem/Router appears to get one layer of the connection
up - it has up/down connection speeds set and then says...

    Initialize LCP.
LCP is allowed to come up.

Normally this would be followed by...

    PAP authentication success

but not any more.

GB.
