Good morning fellow bandwidth addicts,

Has anyone else noticed that their ADSL connection is being forcefully
disconnected in the early hours of the morning?

My ISP disconnection times look like this:
2005-04-21 04:16:41
2005-04-15 04:12:00
2005-04-13 04:05:17

...which is more than just a little bit suspicious if you ask me.

Mind you this could be something to do with the fact that I've *somehow*
managed to download <cough>47gig<cough> this month... Maybe telescum have
finally clued up to the fact that their speed 'capping' system doesn't work
very well?

I'm interested to see if *everyone* (or at least everyone on JS+) is being
disconnected on a regular basis now, or if it's only people who are over
their 10gig cap, or else maybe people over another pre-defined limit
(although I guess there's no point in selling a connection with a 10gig
limit only to actually cap it at 20 for instance, but maybe they're
targeting the higher usage customers?)

Now, the REALLY interesting thing is that after my forced disconnection
(FDC) on the 13th, I was speed capped to 64k (boo!). However, my subsequent
FDC on the 15th saw my connection go uncapped again (very odd, but yay
anyway!). Another FDC on the 21st, and I'm capped to 64k again (boo!).
Makes you wonder what is going to happen next time!? (I'll keep you posted).

The uncapping on the 15th might have been a teething issue with the new FDC
system (if in fact there is such a system and it's not all in my head and/or
a rather striking coincidence), but I guess I'll soon see in a few days as
my billing month rolls over on the 25th so I'll let you know what happens
after then.
