Hmm, good point Mark, hadn't thought about network upgrades... I guess
we'll find out in a week or so when the FDC trend either continues or not.

Don't get me wrong BTW, I'm not complaining, (long live telecom in all their
ineptitude! - no offence to the tc engineers reading this) I'm mearly
attempting to better understand the system so that I can manage my usage to
get optimum benefit from the situation as it currently presents itself. :D

As for the "shhh, don't tell telecom" naysayers... I think telecom are
*probably* already aware of the rate limiting issues on their own network,
considering I have heard directly from a reliable source (telecom JetStream
engineer) that some users are generating in excess of 120gig of traffic per
month, and that was on a 256k line! :) So my mear 40gig probably won't even
raise an eyebrow.

Besides... when was the last time that tc took notice of what ANY of it's
customers had to say, let alone a little public forum like this one!? And
even if they DID suddenly wake up and start listening to us, prehaps that
would be a good thing, it might actually gain us some credibility and maybe
even leverage with them!

:)

Sam.

They have to kick you off to rerate the line, as I understand it.

Your being reconnected at full rate is essentially an error to your benefit.

But FWIW, being discon'd regularly is something I experience too, and i've
never had a satisfactory answer. For discon's at 4am, however, its
probably safe to assume that network upgrades etc (which we aren't
necessarily notified of) will be actioned at that time of day instead of
during business hours, so I tend to accept that such things will happen
from time to time.

Its their regularity that bothers me...
