You are making one fatal assumption. Jetstream + (the 2mb/192kps)
service and all these issues that others are facing are because, these
are NOT UBS services. They are essentially Telecom selling you the
bandwidth and pipe and Orcon/ISP providing support via services, The
biggest service involved here for me is Static IP.

This may clarrify things for you somewhat.

Having been an ADSL test customer back in 99 and working at Paradise.net
in the earlier days, I realise the history, unfortunately I also realise
that anything I may have known is irrelevant in this situation.
Ultimately the blame lies with ComCom, and Telecom for deciding to pull
the split plan style. I don't blame them and the ISP's that agreed to it
because I appreciate on both side there are additional costs. However I
do resent the treatment of the situation by both the ISP's and Telecom.
Telecom public announced when they pulled the plan current customers
would be unaffected. Later when the ISPs and Telecom sign the agreement
not to offer the split style service they knowingly recinded this, they
must have realised at the time there would be a proportion of customers
on the old plans that would get screwed. I want someone to admit this
and deal with it in a way everyone is happy with. The current proposals
from all sides are unsatisfactory, and neither the ISP in question nor
Telecom has done anything but recant options to goto either crappier
plans service wise, or 40$ price jumps to retain the same service
level.
