At one time, the mailing list server was run on my DSL line at home.
On a 486, with 16MB of RAM... That was also my gateway, my firewall,
my mail server, and my FTP server. It also took 56 hours to build
world...

As for running servers, I had a special arrangement with Telecom in
that my rates were substantially subsidized. Yes, Telecom helped us
out there! I could not have afforded my DSL costs otherwise and the
list would never had started. This continue for about two years.

Then, in April 2001, I got a job offer that was hard to refuse so I
headed overseas to Ottawa to work for Ponte => http://www.ponte.com/,
who have since closed down (I'm now working for Tomoye, working on
knowledge management systems, also know as communities of practice =>
http://www.tomoye.com/). At that time, Citylink =>
http://www.citylink.co.nz/ agreed to host my computer for us. They
have been doing this free of charge, and providing me with remote
support, for just about 4.5 years now. :)

If you have dealings with Citylink, please be sure to express your
appreciation of their significant contributions to this list. :)

Gotta head off to work now...
