It's been rather a trying day in the Orcon offices. There have been two
problems affecting DSL today:
The first issue was caused by a linecard crash in one of the ERXes we were
moving customers onto. This had the unfortunate effect of screwing config,
which took a while to fix.
The second issue was unrelated to the first, and was caused by the rather
spectacular crash of one of our core routers. Thankfully we have plenty of
spares; otherwise we'd probably still be offline.
And neither issue had anything to do with Telecom. Wayne was in fact most
helpful in assisting troubleshooting our first problem this morning - even
after we woke him up at 5am.
/t
PS - groveling apologies to all Orcon DSL users. It's pretty unlikely that
we'll have another outage like this; we've taken some extra steps today to
make sure of it.
