And you left it at that David?

I also have been charged the full month, and will not accept that. I was
waiting till I saw what my ISP was going to do, as last time, they did not
part charge, and it turned out in my favour. However, this time, they have
part charged from changover date, and in no way will I accept a charge from
Telecom for a service they didn't provide.

My Telecom bill states Telecom IP services 06/08/05 - 05/09/05, that tells
me it is time based rental, not volume based. I will only accept time based
credit, which for me is from 24/08/05 when I changed over - at their
insistance that I do when they advised they were terminating the service.

Yours definitely!

Paul Quinlan

Subject: Warning - Telecom charges

As most have now experienced, due to the termination of the Jetstream
Partner services, we have changed over from a Jetsream Plus 10Gb plan to
the equivalent (or was that replacement) from our ISP.

Surprise surprise - the latest Telecom bill has a full month's charge
for the Jetstream Plus service, despite the changeover occurring in the
middle of the period.

I queried the charge with Telecom and was advised that as it is a volume
based charge that the full amount is liable - because we might have used
the full volume in the first part of the month.

It seems to me that there are 2 options for them to sort their charges
out (particularly as they have forced the change - they have broken the
contract with us, not vice versa)
- consider it as a service charge - and therefore they should only
charge the first 2 weeks (it happens that the change was exactly
mid-period, 31 Aug), or
- consider it as a volume charge, determine the data volume we used for
the period up to 31 Aug, and pro-rate accordingly.

Suggesting that we need to pay the full charge because we might have
used the full data volume does not sit all well.

Yours in warning

David Hawke
