Hi

Yes, I have talked to a number of the concerned parties, both Telecom (Xtra)
and Telstra give different views at different times. I called both parties
several times to find out what the story is. Even talked to the
Telecommunications government body who gave the most believable answers.

Basically, Telstra have set a policy which says if you want Broadband as in
Jetstream then you must place the telephone business with them. As the user
had an excellent telephone plan from Telecom as in low cost which Telstra
could or would not meet so did not want to move the telephone (voice) to
Telstra, they moved to another ISP.

Most other ISP's like Actrix can support the telephone or just Jetstream
only.

I suspect the problem the problem is Telstra and its policy.

Cheers
Malcolm

Subject: ADSL Telecom and Telstra

This is about Telecom not wanting to provide ADSL directly to people not
using Xtra.

Currently I have Paradise as my ISP and am getting ADSL via Telecom.
This is a service Telecom no longer want to supply, they want me to get ADSL
from the same company that provides my ISP services. But I live in an area
that has Telstra-Clear cable so if I switch to Paradise/Telstra-Clear I have
to switch to cable - which will be expensive if I don't switch phone
services which I don't want to do.

Switching ISP is potentially difficult as our company website is also on
Paradise and my shifting ISP may cause difficulty for my email address - not
sure about this.

Has anyone else worked through this problem e.g. will Telecom make a special
arrangement for people whose ISP won't run the ADSL service.

Robert
