Thanks for the response - sounds like I may have an acceptable option after
all.

I don't see upstream speed as a huge deal, most of my traffic is downstream
and upwards would mostly be e-mail which can transfer in the background.

However I'd be interested in knowing more about 802.11b if someone could
point me to some reference materials or maybe give a brief explanation.

Regards,

Brendon

Hi Brendon

I have tested Ultra at work using a linux box as the host.

I was very impressed with the speed. The fastest single-session download I
have
seen was at 47Kbytes/second, but most only come through at 19-26K/sec.

However you can easily have 6 or 7 20-25K/second downloads running at the
same
time which is great when you're using Napster :)

I use a normal 33k6 modem uplink to Ihugs NZWIDE access gear.

After using it in a test situation at work for one week I decided to sign up
at
home for it. I am waiting on the install now (3 weeks so far), and I gather
that
due to lack of hardware the install can take a while.

But all in all I'm vrey impressed. Now I just need a fast uplink (and I'm
working on that with 802.11b and a local ISP :)

Ciao!
Pete
