Ok here goes *trumpet fanfare, drum roll*

There will a Canterbury Linux Users Group Meeting on Wednesday 22 August 2001.

Venue: Canterbury Innovation Centre, 200 Armagh Street, Christchurch.
Time: 7.30 pm
Speaker: Martin Baehr
Topic: Roxen Webserver (and anything else linux you want to bring up).

Martin is a visitor from Germany (or is it Austria??). You have probably seen his posts in various linux user group mailing lists. Its great to have such a good drawcard for what is hopefully the first of regular meetings.

I am flexible with the format of the meeting, but envisage some sort of short informal get together, put faces to names etc, then Martin's talk followed by more informal chat, including input on the shape of future meetings.

The Roxen web server is under the GPL and some its interesting features include
1) Written in Pike - a C-like scripting language
2) Modular so can be easily extended
3) Fast
4) Some really amazing dynamic graphic capabilities
5) Very easy database access (easier even than perl or php)
6) True type font support
