Hey nick!
Just got a cable modem at home!.. Shouldnt be any problem with Linux
support,as it takes plain ol ethernet in. No PPP, PPPoE, PPTP, just set up
your ethernet adapter and plug it in. The cable modem is a Motorola SB3100.
It pretty plain box, just a connection for cable and a 10BaseT ethernet
port. I have the 256k connection and it seems to perform really close to
that speed.. and the ping times are around 13ms to rachel.paradise.net.nz
When I called upthey said cable modems were available in Christchurch now,
though I havnt seen any publicity regarding them. The installation wasnt too
complex. They put in an ethernet card on my windows box, configured it up
jsut like any other and gave it a static IP.... whats better, no NAT! Real
routable IP address.
David!

Subject: Cable modem for Saturn (ChCh)
Message-ID: <2248174370.990090652@[192.168.1.2]>
Theres currently a debate on the chch linux ug list about saturn cable
modem support under linux.
there is of course reference to saturn in the cable modem howto
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Cable-Modem/isps.html#AEN518
do saturn still use the com21 cable modem, and if not what do they use and
is it simple to set up under linux?
